Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs for Hosts
How do I create a competition?
To create a competition, click the Create Competition button and provide details including images, title, description, ticket quantities, and either an end date or an open-ended format. You must own or control the prize you're offering. You must also ensure you have a payout account set up. If you do not have a payout account set up, you can set one up in your account settings.
What does open ended mean?
An open-ended competition has no fixed calendar closing date. Entries close when all tickets for that competition have been sold, and the draw is then run. Open-ended competitions cannot have a reserve. See clause 5 (The Draw) in our Terms of Service.
Do I need a licence to host a competition?
No, you don't need a licence to host competitions on luckladder. Our platform operates legally under UK law.
Are there any fees for hosting a competition?
Hosting a competition on Luckladder is free, there is no charge to create or run a competition. The only host fee is a 3.9% commission deducted from your payout when you withdraw your proceeds after the winner has claimed their prize. All fees are clearly disclosed before you publish. See clause 9 (Hosting Draws) in our Terms of Service.
Can I host my competition in my business name?
Yes, you can host competitions in your business name. However, you must ensure you own or control the prize you're offering and comply with all applicable laws and regulations. The platform operates under UK law, so please ensure your business activities are legal under UK law. Please note that your payout account must have accurate information to comply with KYC requirements. Even if you are using your business name for your username, you must use your real name and real address for your payout account.
Are there any restrictions on what I can host?
Yes, certain items are prohibited including weapons, illegal goods, controlled substances, or any item prohibited by law. You must own or control the prize and ensure it's legal to offer. A full list of prohibited items can be found in clause 10 of our terms of service. Luckladder reserves the right to remove competitions that violate these rules, which may result in your competition being removed and you being banned from the platform.
How do I get paid after hosting a competition?
Hosts can withdraw their proceeds (less fees) once the winner has claimed their prize and confirmed receipt. You must request withdrawal within 28 days of the winner accepting the prize. Funds are not released until prize delivery is confirmed. Funds are transferred to your payout account set up in your account settings. You will receive an email when the payout is in transit to your account, as well as another email when the payout is completed.
What happens if I don't claim my payout for my competition within 28 days?
If you don't claim your payout within 28 days, you may forfeit the payout. It is your responsibility to claim your payout within the 28 day period. If you are having issues claiming your payout, please contact us at info@luckladder.com.
What if I've handed over the prize but the winner hasn't claimed it on the website yet?
If you have delivered or facilitated collection of the prize but the winner hasn't claimed it on the website using their verification code, please contact us at info@luckladder.com. We can help verify the prize handover and facilitate the claim process. It's important to reach out as soon as possible so we can work together to resolve the situation and ensure you receive your payout promptly.
What happens if my reserve is not met?
If you set a Reserve on your competition and it is not met by the closing date and time, the advertised prize will not be awarded. The winner will receive a cash alternative equal to the final prize pool gross, as described in clause 5 (The Draw) of our Terms of Service. You will not receive a host payout for that competition. The Reserve is set by you when creating the competition and cannot be changed afterwards.

Are there any fees for entering a competition?
The cost of entry shall be displayed on our Website. How is the winner selected?
The winner is selected randomly from among all users who entered the competition. For standard competitions, the draw takes place on the competition end date or when all tickets are sold, whichever is earlier. For open-ended competitions, the draw runs when all tickets are sold. Our platform uses an automated system to ensure fair and random selection.
How are winners notified?
All entrants are notified by email when a winner is chosen, whether they won or lost. Winners receive a unique verification code and must claim their prize within 28 days of notification through our automated platform.
How do I get my prize if I win?
Winners must claim their prize within 28 days using their verification code. The host will contact you directly to arrange delivery of your prize. You can track your claim status in your entered competitions. Please see clause 5 of our terms of service for more information.

What happens if the prize is not as described?
